01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Kuni-tei’s special curry is served with beef or chicken on the rice, with the roux poured over afterwards. You can enjoy the meat and roux separately before bringing them together. Diners have described the chicken as tender enough to fall apart and commented on the softness of the beef. It’s a good choice when you want a curry centred on its meat rather than on the roux’s heat.
For a generous take on a Western-style staple, consider the chicken katsu. The one-plate meal comes with salad and ohitashi, and one diner reported receiving a large cutlet covered in plenty of demi-glace sauce. They found the sauce not too rich and said the dish remained enjoyable to the last bite. It could suit a lunch when you’re in the mood for something hearty with rice.
The menu at Kuni-tei in Setagaya, Setagaya City, also includes hamburg steak, beef cutlet and venison braised in red wine. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner on weekdays and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
